Problems That Could Occur During the Staining Process

Once your cement floors are properly cleaned and prepared, you are ready to begin staining. The problems that can come up during the staining process come down to these basics – what you are aiming to do, how you are doing it and what you are using to do it.

Amount of Stain

The amount of stain you use is key. Too much or too little stain can both produce unattractive results. If you haven't already stained a sample section of your concrete, back up and do that before you start. When you are ready to start, focus on what you know about proper coverage.

If you end up with blotches and streaks consider adding an additional coat of stain. Be mindful of not applying the coats too thick though. You want the stain to penetrate the concrete, not cover it up. Understand that this is a process that should not be rushed. In order to achieve the color effects of acid on concrete, you'll want to allow time for the stain reaction to take place.
